Rail-ski map of Austria

Austria has a vast array of wondeful ski resorts – many of them with a train station in the village or otherwise a short bus ride away. Our unique map will help you plan.

'The map – please!' (Time Bandits, film)

A rail-ski map of Austria never, to our knowledge, existed. So we created one.

Having made the rail-ski map of France the year before, it made sense to do one for Austria, a country blessed with wonderful ski resorts – many of them with a train station in the actual resort village.

David Cooper, the graphic designer who had worked with SnowCarbon to create the rail-ski map of France, was delighted to take on this challenge. The map was created in conjuction with Austria Tourism who helped fund it.

More about The Rail Ski Map of Austria

The Rail Ski Map was created in conjunction with Austria Tourism. It aims to be a source of inspiration and a useful planning tool for anyone considering a rail journey to the Austria by train. The map shows the key high-speed, local and sleeper train routes available to popular destinations.

Snowcarbon Founder, Daniel Elkan says: “There are so many ski resorts in Austria that are accessible by rail. But many skiers don’t know about these journeys because they don’t have the visual context– literally – of what the possibilities are. Maps are also an essential planning tool.

"Austria has fantastic ski resorts. As you might know, many of them have a train station located in the resort village or a short distance away. By train, the scenery you witness travelling to and through the Austrian Alps is spectacular. On journeys, I’ve often wished the driver would stop and reverse – for a second viewing!"

Using the rail-ski map on your website

The map was created with the aim of helping more skiers and snowboarders find out where and how to travel to ski resorts by train. If you have a website and would like to use the map on it, you are welcome to do so but please add a credit and weblink to SnowCarbon.

You can find various sizes of the map, as JPGs and a PDF, on this link to the Rail-ski map of Austria Dropbox folder.
