Winter trains - 2026-27 - dates on sale

Here's the heads up you need for what dates trains go on sale for winter 2026-27. And this winter you can book TGV trains further in advance than before

If you've been wondering what dates European trains to the Alps go on sale, wonder no more!

The good news is that for TGV trains, the booking window is simpler and gives you the chance to book trains further in advance than before.

The two key dates this year are 30 September and 12 November. The tables below show the date that tickets go on sale for each kind of train.

TGV INOUI trains*

*TGV INOUI trains are the ordinary high-speed TGV trains that run throughout France.

TGV Lyria trains*

*TGV Lyria trains are the high-speed TGV trains that run between France and Switzerland.

OUIGO trains*

*OUIGO trains are the no-frills, cheapo version of a TGV. They have much less legroom, no cafe bar, no wifi and you have to pay a charge for each item of luggage. They run on limited number of routes in France.

*Intercites trains are non-high speed (but still fast) trains that run in France, including the SNCF sleeper trains, Intercites de Nuit.

What time do the above trains go on sale?

It's a good question. In recent years, SNCF won't be pinned down to actually stating a time. But the likely time is 06:00 French time, which means 05:00 UK time.

So the evening before, get the scented candles out, run a nice bath and then drift off to an early slumber.

Nightjet trains

Nightjet trains have just gone on sale. You can book to 330 days ahead.
