Mountain restaurants

Megève is justifiably famous for its great mountain restaurants, but remember to book ahead. Our favourites include:

  • Le Radaz is a tiny timber chalet at the head of the Cote 2000 valley. Try the écorce de sapin, a mini Mont D'Or baked in its own wooden pot.
  • Refuge du Christomet on the smaller Le Jaillet side, serves outstanding rabbit and steak tartare.

Restaurants in town

Unsurprisingly, perhaps, classic French cuisine dominates the town, with a liberal sprinkling of Michelin stars. Top of the tree is the 2-star Flocons de Sel.

For more classic French bistro, try Benjamin, while trendy Le Café has a good selection of fresh seafood. There is also a wide variety of good pizzerias.

Après-ski and nightlife

This is not a resort for dancing till dark in your ski boots. It's got a more chilled-out vibe and is best enjoyed by strolling the romantic streets arm in arm with your loved one. You can duck into one of the numerous cafés for hot chocolate and cakes, or if you want something a little stronger, people-watch from the heated terraces of one of the smaller bars lining the pedestrian route.

The old Club Les 5 Rues is an expensive place for a cocktail but still pulls in some big names. The Cocoon Club is another popular spot, and there is always Stelsia Casino if you're feeling flush.
