In the La Rosière sector
A deservedly popular spot is La Traversette (+33 611 705 107), a self-service restaurant with a real-world menu and a large sun deck. We particularly enjoyed the sensational views from the great location, near the base of the Fort chairlift and the Boardercross du Fort.

Alternatively, Le Paradis (+33 479 067 530) and Le Tout Poudre (+33 750 528 139) are both excellent choices for a midday meal, or else an afternoon tipple on their panoramic sun terraces.

In the Italian sector
For a great lunch in a genuinely away-from-it-all location, we reckon you’ll struggle to beat the welcoming Lo Riondet (+39 342 105 1087). Located right beside Piste No. 7 San Bernardo (which in other seasons is the road descending from the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard to La Thuile). This welcoming mountain refuge serves up reviving, pasta- and polenta-based meals. This being Italy, vegetarians are also catered for, and there’s a tempting choice of cakes. On a chilly day, try to get a table inside to enjoy a warm log fire and the authentic chalet interior; otherwise, head upstairs to a covered terrace made super-cosy with touches like fur blankets and cushions.

Restaurants in town

There’s something somewhere for most tastes and budgets, from fast food/takeaway to gourmet dining. For family dining, Rosa Ristorante (+33 479 231 838), in Les Eucherts, is a solid option, with an Italian menu and friendly service. L'Ancolie (+33 479 068 671), meanwhile, offers Savoyard classics in an antique chalet. For haute cuisine, reserve a spot well in advance at Le Terroir des Vignobles (+33 981 503 802), run by Michelin-trained chefs Judith and Alexandre.

Après-ski & nightlife

Our experience tells us that most visitors are not out to party until dawn here, but there is life in a couple of bars. Le Comptoir (+33 479 068 317), styled as an 'Old English pub', is a popular watering hole that hosts live music and DJ sets. For wine lovers, Larkyala (+33 671 993 494) is a must-try, and for cocktails, there's the elegant, Scandi-style Bar le St. B (+33 485 979 784). On the slopes, meanwhile, you'll find afternoon music and dancing on the sun terrace of L'Antigel (+33 623 949 207). 

Throughout the season, La Rosière hosts several celebrations: starting with the grand opening in early December, followed by a New Year's Eve DJ set, a January food festival, and Carnival in February.
