Murren - village
When it’s blanketed in snow, Mürren has a genuinely Christmas card-style ambience, and apart from some aspects, it almost feels as if time has stood still in this idyllic spot since winter sports holidaymakers first started making their way here between the wars. The British effectively pioneered the modern slalom here.
Mürren sits at the base of the Schilthorn (2,970m) – famous for the annual Inferno race, and for its revolving Piz Gloria restaurant, which featured in the James Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, is the highest of the three Jungfrau resorts, and usually has the best snow.

Non-ski activities
Although Mürren is a quiet hideaway of a resort, there’s a surprising amount to do apart from skiing. There’s tobogganing, winter and snowshoe walking, and even heliskiing and scenic flights. The sports centre has a 25m-long swimming pool, a sauna/steam bath, a gym and two ice rinks for skating and curling, a squash court and a sports hall.
Childcare
Children's afternoons are organised by the Ski and Snowboard School. There are winter playgrounds at the Winteregg and Gimmelen Restaurants, and there’s even a Curling Cup for children. Mürren tourist office offers a “Kids’ Paradise” child minding service for children aged between 2 and 8 during the winter season.
